POSITION SUMMARY 


The Cancer Tumor Registrar supports the company’s mission to provide our clients with exceptional service by delivering accurate and timely cancer data, state regulatory compliance, and Commission on Cancer Accreditation management.  The Certified Tumor Registrar is responsible for the review and abstraction of cancer registry data from electronic medical records in compliance with state and national guidelines.  The Certified Tumor Registrar is detail-oriented, committed to high-quality data abstraction, meets both quality and productivity standards, functions well independently, and works well under time constraints to ensure details are met. 
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


 Responsible for performing abstraction of cancer cases in accordance with requirements of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer (CoC), as well as state registry guidelines.
 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS  
 

Education
  • Minimum Required:  Associate Degree in Health Information, or related field.
Experience
  • Minimum Required:  2 years of experience working as a Certified Tumor Registrar
License/Certification
  • Minimum Required:  ​Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) Certification
Special Skills/Training
  • Minimum Required:
    • Proficient in all Microsoft office products.
    • Proficient with various cancer registry software systems (Metriq, Cnext,)
    • Proficient with various electronic medical record systems (Meditech, EPIC, Mosaiq)
    • High-speed internet access and experience with remote access, setup and troubleshooting technical issues.  Secure home office HIPAA Compliant.
  • Preferred:  Knowledge and understanding of the Commission on Cancer standards and accreditation process.
